Y's new membership director is planning a weekend blast
Four months into her new job as St. Croix Valley YMCA's marketing and membership director, Jacquelyn Huff finds herself organizing one of the Y's biggest parties to date.



Women's Club begins schedule with autumn fashion show
The Hudson Women's Club will begin its 1999-2000 activities with a fashion show and luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Hudson Golf Club. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Club members will model fall clothes from Herberger's of Stillwater in a range of sizes from petite through women's. The event will conclude with a white elephant gift exchange. Those wishing to participate in the exchange should bring an "interesting" gift-wrapped item.



'Dead Man Walking' nun to speak in New Richmond
Sister Helen Prejean, C.S.J., author of the best-seller book, "Dead Man Walking," will be appearing in New Richmond on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at the New Richmond High School gymnasium, 920 Riley Ave. Sister Helen will deliver a lecture entitled, "The Death Penalty in America: A Profound Moral Contradiction."



DA will again sponsor poster contest
St. Croix County District Attorney, Eric Johnson announced that his office will again sponsor the Ninth Annual Stop Drugs Poster Contest. The contest involves fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh graders from all public and private school districts in St. Croix County. The program involves students submitting antidrug and alcohol posters to the district attorney's office where the posters are judged by a panel of St. Croix County citizens. The winners are awarded savings bonds, and the top posters are made into calendars, which are distributed to schools in late December.



Hudson High School class of 1949 has 50th Class Reunion
The Hudson High School Class of 1949 had its reunion Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Hudson Golf Club. George Harwell was the emcee. Reunion committee members were George Harwell, Clyde Christensen, DeLores Schlief, Lorraine McGrew, Mary Jane Strey, Alva Kinney and Lois Wallace.
