Contractor dives into construction
General contractor Market Johnson of Eau Claire is on schedule with work on the Hudson School District's swimming pool addition. The addition, located at the Hudson Middle School and Hudson Prairie Elementary School campus, will be covered in by Dec. 1. The precast walls are expected to arrive in mid-October.

Over a half century of production out of the pit
Officially it is known as the Milestone Materials Mimbach Quarry. Locally it is known as the Mathys pit, located in the bluff behind St. Croix Meadows Dog Track, lower right, and accessed off Tower Road, top right corner. The pit has been in operation since 1948.
