Third-graders gather windfalls, gain experience
An ill wind was a good thing for the third-graders at Prairie Elementary. It meant they had plenty of windfalls to collect at Afton Apple Orchard earlier this week.
District offers plan to secure sub teachers
The Hudson School District is experiencing difficulty in securing substitute teachers. In an effort to alleviate some of the problems, the district hopes to tap into an alternate source for staffing. The Department of Public Instruction permits people who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college, but who do not meet requirements for a Wisconsin teaching license, to substitute teach. This three-year permit will allow the holder to do short-term substituting.
Rock plans Fall Festival
Games, prizes and food are just a few of the activities E.P. Rock Elementary's parent group will offer at the school's fall festival, Friday, Oct. 22, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Also planned is a Drive for the Kids fund-raiser. The Chrysler-Plymouth division will donate $5 to the Rock Parent Group for every adult who test drives a new minivan.
