Financial center going up
The exterior is basically complete on the Hudson Financial Center building along Hwy. 12 near Brakke Drive in the town of Hudson. A branch of the First National Bank of New Richmond is planned to move in during the month of May. The bank will occupy 5,000 of the building's 16,000 square feet. The drive-through area to be used by the bank is taking shape on the building's east side. An elevator is being installed to connect the financial center's two floors. First National is 'Bank of Promise'
The First National Bank of Hudson and Kenneth A. Heiser, president, became a Bank of Promise, joining other banks in a partnership with Gen. Colin Powell, the American Bankers Association and America's Promise, a not-for-profit organization serving youth.
Target set to open Oct. 10
The 124,000-square-foot Target store going up on the corner of Coulee and Carmichael roads is expected to open Oct. 10.
St. Croix Electric Co-op holds annual meeting
Over 200 members attended the annual meeting of the St. Croix Electric Cooperative April 10 in Hammond.
NSP to use helicopter for inspections
Area residents may notice a helicopter flying above their neighborhoods as Northern States Power Co. conducts inspections of its electric transmission lines and power poles. The line inspections will last through May.
NSP to complete Y2K work by July
MINNEAPOLIS - Northern States Power Co. announced that 93 percent of its mission-critical systems and equipment are ready for the transition to the year 2000. Mission-critical items are essential for service reliability, public and employee safety, regulatory compliance and billing and revenue services. The company expects to complete Y2K-related work by June 30.
Brunner appointed chief judge of 10th Judicial District
MADISON - Judge Edward R. Brunner, who has served in Barron County Circuit Court since 1988, has been appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court as chief judge of the 10th Judicial Administrative District. Brunner will continue to handle a full caseload in Barron County in addition to his new administrative duties.
