Grief leads to growth for Tjornehoj family

The loss of a child is every parent's worst fear. How to go on after such a loss is a great mystery to those who haven't experienced it. For Kris Tjornehoj, the journey has been full of great grief but also great growth.

Rescue personnel had to help extract a woman from her car after a collision with a semi-truck on Hwy. 35-64 and Triangle Drive in Houlton Monday at about 6:50 p.m. An Osceola woman was reported injured in the mishap and taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Officials at the scene said the semi was northbound, but it was unclear which way the car was traveling when it was forced into the west ditch and rolled several times. St. Joseph and Somerset emergency medical crews responded to the accident.

Halloween tractor ride ends in injuries

Two people were injured Halloween night when a wagon they were in overturned on a steep driveway in North Hudson.

Father suspects 'foul play' in daughter's recent traffic death

Although there is no police investigation at this point, the father of a woman killed in a car accident near Hudson Oct. 19 is convinced there may have been some "foul play" in her death.

Two veterans reflect on military service as observance approaches

RIGHT:Don Colbeth, owner of Don's Repair Service in Hudson, reflected on his service time and Veterans Day earlier this week. Colbeth served with the United States Marines during the Korean War.

The 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month of 1918 marked the end of WWI, the war to end all wars. In the aftermath of the conflict, Americans set about to establish the day to honor the veterans who fought in the great conflict.

Vet's event is Nov. 11

The annual Veteran's Day observance is scheduled Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in front the St. Croix County Government Center.
