Scout Leader event draws large group

More than 900 adult Cub Scout leaders spent Saturday, Oct. 30 at Indianhead Scouting's "Pow Wow" learning new or better ways to serve the youth of their communities. From the 8:30 a.m. kick-off until the 3:30 p.m. closing ceremonies, Hudson High School was filled with Scouting ideas, camaraderie and dedicated leaders.

Scout leaders Bob Baker, Houlton, and Dana Tully, Suzanne Briggs and Ron Johnson, Hudson, attended sessions chosen from a roster that offered training on traditional Scouting programs, as well as new issues relevant to today's changing world. Included were such topics as community service projects for Scouts, safety, boy behavior, recognizing harassment and program enhancements. In addition to the classes, a Midway area showcased resources for Scout leaders.

Indianhead Council, Boy Scouts of America serves eight counties in Minnesota and four in Western Wisconsin. The council holds this event each year for Cub Scout leaders as part of its commitment to serving youth by providing quality leader training.
