Santa arrives here Friday night

Hudson officially lights up for the season Friday with the annual Light Up Night celebration. Expanded to include Hudson's beautiful Lakefront Park, the fun begins with Santa's estimated time of arrival at 7 p.m. Santa is usually spotted first around Third and Vine streets. He then moves down Second Street to Walnut and winds down into Lakefront Park, where trees will be lit to turn it officially into "Christmas Park" for the season.

Everyone is encouraged to line the downtown streets to get a close-up look at Santa and partake of the fun planned by downtown businesses.

Also a special part of the evening is a kerosene lighting of the famous Octagon House Museum. Costumed tour guides will be on hand from 6-9 p.m. and there will be entertainment.

Santa's parlor

Santa makes Hudson a regular weekend stop during the holidays at his special home away from home in his parlor at Kelley Frame and Fine Art Gallery in 2nd Street Crossing.

Santa will take callers every Saturday and Sunday beginning Nov. 27 and running through Dec. 19 from 1-5 p.m. The parlor is sponsored by the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and the merchants of Second Street Crossing.

Santa brings his reindeer to Lakefront Park on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 1-4 p.m. Bring your camera and get up close to both Santa and his team. The event is sponsored by Mickey Finn's Accessories and Antiques.
