Commission promotes tourism
The role of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers in tourism will be studied during 2000 to see if cooperative efforts can improve tourism businesses. The Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary Area Commission adopted a tentative work plan for 2000 at its meeting in Hudson Friday, Dec. 3. In addition, the commission aims to 1) dispel a notion that it is hostile toward economic development, 2) simplify and streamline regulations and 3) be sensitive to public frustration with environmental regulations.
Business owners attend seminar
Christine Lassa and Heidi Gilbert, owners of Your Personal Edge, Inc. Personal Training Studio in Hudson recently attended a seminar presented by Daniel Kosich, Ph.D, an exercise physiologist and weight management specialist. The full-day program provided updates in Nutrition Research including the "skinny" on high protein diets and The Truth About Fat Metabolism. Kinesiology of strength training the upper and lower body was also discussed and demonstrated. As ACE-certified personal trainers, Lassa and Gilbert are required to accumulate continuing education credits to maintain their certification.
