Peters gets state student-athlete honor

A record 223 girls will be presented as Award of Excellence winners Feb. 6 when the Women's Sports Advocates of Wisconsin holds its ninth annual awards banquet. Hudson's Trina Peters is one of the honorees.

The Award of Excellence honorees are high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and a letter in at least one varsity sport. Peters carries a 4.0 average and competes in track, basketball and volleyball.

The awards will be presented as part of a gala celebration at the Country Inn Hotel & Conference Center in Waukesha.

The evening kicks off with a raffle of memorabilia contributed by some of America's top female athletes, including Mia Hamm, Marion Jones, Karyn Bye, Bonnie Blair, Gail Devers, Suzy Hamilton, Rebecca Lobo and many more.
