Firefighters from Hudson, River Falls, Roberts and St. Joseph battled a barn fire at 351 N. Glover Road in the town of Troy Wednesday afternoon (March 24). The barn, owned by Harold and Victoria Johnson, was fully engulfed by the time the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Thick, black smoke from the fire could be seen in both River Falls and Hudson.

Somerset couple hits $19.5 million Powerball jackpot
SOMERSET - A Somerset area couple appears to be the winner of an estimated $19.5 million in the Powerball Lottery last weekend. State lottery officials said Tuesday, however, that two area people have contacted the state, claiming to have the winning ticket.
The village of North Hudson has some of the hottest contested area races in Tuesday's election with a race for village president and six candidates seeking three village trustee posts.

An 11th-hour School Board race developed last week when Priscilla Wyeth announced that she will challenge incumbents Daniel Tjornehoj and Clarence "Buck" Malick as a write-in candidate.
The old Hudson Country Club building on Coulee Road was razed Monday and Tuesday. Demolition was completed by Zappa Bros. Excavating. The new clubhouse building is almost completed on Carmichael Road.
