Fire in Hartland Township
Barn burns down

A BARN WAS DESTROYED by fire last Tuesday evening at a farm in Hartland Township. The Ellsworth Fire Department went to the Randall Peterson residence, W5590 CTH EE, Bay City, shortly before 7:30 p.m. The barn was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived and they worked to save an adjacent silo. Two horses were evacuated from the burning building, which otherwise contained hay. Lightning may have caused the blaze, as several strikes were seen in the vicinity during a passing storm earlier in the evening. The local fire department was assisted by units from Bay City and Maiden Rock at the scene, just west of CTH EE's intersection with CTH D.
