Crash victims improve

By Sue Odegard

The conditions of two people injured in a head-on crash on April 8 were upgraded this week.

Evett Westphal, 40, Hudson, was first listed in critical condition after she was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul from the crash site on CTH MM, east of Mann Lane. Her condition was upgraded to serious on Monday.

The driver of a pickup truck, Eric S. Meadows, 23, River Falls, was first listed as serious at Regions Hospital, but was upgraded to good condition Monday. Meadows was given a fine for crossing the center line while going around a curve before striking Westphal.

A passenger in Westphal's van, 21-year-old Tanner Westphal, was treated and released at the Hudson Hospital.
