University creates parking sprawl on city streets
TO THE EDITOR:
Spring is here and it is beautiful. But with the good comes the bad.In my case the bad comes in the form of the end of alternate side parking. Living on Park Street the situation is terrible. The students living in the dorms abandon their vehicles on my street for a week, weeks, and even longer before reclaiming them. I cannot park in front of my house. As a disabled person it hurts when people don't visit me because of my parking situation. The university grows larger but the on-campus parking remains constant. The university solves the parking dilemma by passing it off on the residents and streets of River Falls. To remedy this abandoned car situation, I offer two possible solutions: 1. To change ordinance No. 9.15 to say "vehicles shall be tagged and towed after 48 hours." 2. Alternate-side parking shall be in effect from Labor Day to May 15 or Memorial Day. This is a bad situation affecting a large portion of River Falls. I offer two suggestions. What do you say?
