The UW-River Falls football team won its last home game of the season last Saturday, defeating UW-Platteville 31-14 and extending their WIAC record to 4-3, 5-4 overall.

Both the UW-River Falls men's and women's swimming teams fell short in a dual meet with Minnesota State University-Mankato last Saturday afternoon at the Karges pool; the men by a score of 41-31 and the women losing a heartbreaker 46-45.

The phone rang around 10 p.m., Sunday night. Head coach Patti Ford put the receiver to her ear and heard a message the Falcon volleyball team had been waiting for all season - they were invited to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.
Swimmers step up
The improvement shown by the Wildcat girls swimming and diving team this year has been slow but steady. And that improvement reached another level last Saturday when the Cats finished third at the WIAA Division 2 sectional meet and qualified two individuals and a relay team for this weekend's WIAA State Swimming and Diving Championships in Madison.

Curtain rises on women's hockey
After a special ceremony christened the Falcons' inaugural hockey event on Friday night, the UW-River Falls women took the ice for their first-ever weekend of varsity competition, and they succeeded in scoring against one of the region's top-ranked squads.
