'Nutcracker Ballet' staged
The River Falls Ballet is staging its 16th Annual "Nutcracker Ballet" Dec. 11-12, at North Hall Auditorium on the UW-River Falls campus.Choreographed by Lynne Butenhoff, the production will be held at 7 p.m., Dec. 11, and 2 p.m., Dec. 12. Tickets sell for $6 for adults and $3 for children. They will be available at the door.
Listening session is Nov. 12
U.S. Senator Russ Feingold will hold a Listening Session in Pierce County on Friday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., in room 115 of the Chippewa Valley Technical College campus, 500 S. Wasson Lane.The meeting will last up to an hour. "By holding these sessions I hear firsthand the issues, such as campaign finance reform and the federal deficit, that are important to the people of Wisconsin and it allows me to better represent their interests in Washington," Feingold said. The public is invited to attend.
Pancake breakfast is Nov. 14
The Boy Scouts in Troop #54 will host a pancake breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moose Family Center, 620 N. Clark St.Breakfast will be prepared by the scouts and their parents. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Ulvilden to speak at Tuesday Club Nov. 16

Yoga retreat offered
A Holiday Yoga Retreat will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, at Yoga House Studio in River Falls.It includes a facial and yoga instructions. The cost is $50. 'Go Fish' to perform
First Covenant Church of River Falls is hosting a concert with a nationally known contemporary Christian music group "Go Fish." It will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., at the River Falls High School Auditorium, 230 N. Ninth St.The concert is part of the group's 1999 Christmas tour "More Than a Story," and will feature the acappella harmonies that group members are known for. The performance will also feature a guest appearance by songwriter and contemporary Christian musician Sarah Masen. "Go Fish" members have performed across the United States. They are four male singers who have been featured on national networks including CNN, TBS and INSP and on radio stations including KTIS in the Twin Cities. They were named "Midwest Region's Best New Artists" by the Gospel Music Association in 1995. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased by calling Jackie Wallace at the First Covenant Church office at 425-2640 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The concert doors will be open for advance purchase ticket holders only from 6:30-6:55 p.m. After that time, any unclaimed seats will be made available to those waiting to purchase tickets at the door. Craft fair is Nov. 20
The River Falls High School F.B.L.A. Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at the high school, 230 N. Ninth St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.This is the 19th annual craft fair. McDonald to speak
Bill McDonald, the award-winning author of "Dakota Incarnate," will be at the Bookpress bookstore in downtown River Falls on Friday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m."Dakota Incarnate" is a book of short stories about the Dakota Territories that brings the history of the Great Plains pioneers to life. The author will read from his book and sign autographs.
