Swain to lead Bible study at November 'Spice of Life'

The Rev. Connie L. Swain of Faith Christian Counseling will lead a Bible study in the Fireside Room of Ezekiel Lutheran Church, 202 S. Second St., on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 9:16 a.m.

Swain is a pastoral psychotherapist who has a private counseling practice and speaker's bureau in River Falls. She is a certified professional family counselor with the American Association of Christian Counselors.

She has a master's degree in marriage and family counseling and has conducted numerous workshops and seminars over the past 14 years throughout the Midwest. She addresses such topics as: marriage enrichment, conflict resolution, parenting skills, self-esteem building for couples and families, step-family relationships, and child and domestic abuse.

Swain has served as coordinator of the Family Violence Network in South Dakota and as HeadStart regional parent coordinator. She authored a marriage enrichment workbook for couples and a video/training manual on self-esteem for the University of Nebraska.

She is a member of First Covenant Church and will focus on the topic of faith for the "Spice of Life" Bible study.

"Spice of Life" is introducing a new format for the 1999-2000 season.

To bring back the initial purpose of the meetings and to encourage Bible study, the group is offering a 1-hour, informal Bible study every other month. On alternating months, inspirational speakers will be featured.

The organization is a non-denominational group. All women of the community are invited to enjoy a morning of Christian fellowship, inspiration and encouragement over a cup of coffee.

Included in the meeting is a time of sharing Scripture readings, special music, book reviews, and entertainment.

This year there will be a new segment in the program. Carole Kruger will feature "Helpful Hints."

The theme is "Living Our Faith" based on I Corinthians 13:13 - faith, hope, love.
