Deer hunters perform valuable service

TO THE EDITOR:

The Blaze Orange Season is here again.

While it's easy to stereotype all hunters as drunken spot-lighting louts whose beer cans litter the roads the next morning, the vast majority of the hunters are careful, courteous sportsmen who do all of us a service.

Look at this week's accident report in the Journal. If there isn't a bunch of deer collisions, there will be by next week.

Your car insurance too high? Fewer deer, fewer accidents. Has Lyme disease hit your pets or someone you know? Too many deer!

Support your local hunters in their efforts to control this noxious pest. Every deer in someone's freezer is one less corn rat to rob your pocket.
