Both the UW-River Falls men's and women's swimming teams fell short in a dual meet with Minnesota State University-Mankato last Saturday afternoon at the Karges pool; the men by a score of 41-31 and the women losing a heartbreaker 46-45."We swam very well," said head coach Doug Naylor. "Virtually everyone on the team had a season best. You can't ask for much more than that." Among the standouts for the Falcon women were junior Jessie Plumley, who won both the 50 meter freestyle (26.08 seconds) and the 100 meter freestyle (:58.03), and freshman Kim Hart, who took first-place in the 100 meter breaststroke (1:17.64), 200 meter breaststroke (2:49.22) and 200 meter individual medley (2:39.09). For the men, senior Tim Beach won the 500 meter freestyle in a time of 5:26.35, the 200 fly in 2:15.86 and the 200 individual medley in 2:21.52. Freshman Jesse Carroll finished first in the 50 free in 24.58 and took second in a tightly-contested 100 meter freestyle. After the meet, Naylor had a difficult time singling out one outstanding performance. "I think that exemplifies on how the whole team performed," he said.
