Fire claims buildings at PC Lumber

Fire at Plum City Lumber FIREFIGHTERS from three departments attacked the fire from three different angles. Portable drop-tanks were used to provide water supplies for the pumpers. Volunteers exited two local taverns when the fire was discovered about 7:30 p.m. and assisted in removing 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, tools and other inventory from two garages adjacent the burning lumber yard.

PLUM CITY - A building housing the main office and a display room, plus another for storage at Plum City Lumber and Sport were destroyed by fire last Saturday.

Restaurants in county's first inspection results score high

A year after the Pierce County Public Health Department assumed restaurant inspection duties in the county, the first results show high scores for most of the establishments inspected.

Results of the restaurant inspections from July 1 to Dec. 31, 1999, for Pierce County are listed below. The Pierce County Public Health Department has conducted the inspections in the county since February, 1999, and provides this information.
