Meyer Middle School Meyer Middle School: for how long?

The question before the school board is whether the Meyer name is portable. Can it, should it be transferred when the middle school relocates to the current high school building? Or should the Meyer name remain with a building that has no middle school, but a host of other educational programs?

DeWayne Meyer spent nearly 50 years at the building that bears his name - first as a student, then a teacher, coach, and, for the last 27 years, as a principal.

Greenwood Elementary School second-graders on climbing wall Hanging on

Greenwood Elementary School second-graders Tyler Kramer, far right, and Erin Pomeroy navigate their way across the new climbing wall at the school as their classmates follow during physical education class last Friday in the gym. Physical education teacher Deb Timmerman said the wall is unique because students move across it sideways and are never more than a few feet off the ground. Besides the physical benefits, Timmerman said the wall helps students with organization and planning skills. She said she also designs exercises in which the students can only use certain colors to move across the wall, or team challenges where students have to move across the wall with a buddy. So far, she said, she hasn't had a single student fail to climb the length of the wall. Students and the Greenwood Parent/Teacher Organization, with help from the River Falls Rotary Club, raised over $3,000 for the project.
