Tree expert to speak at library

Do you know over 80% of tree failures are preventable?

Do you want the trees you plant to last more than 20 years?

On Friday, Feb. 4, nationally known tree expert Gary Johnson will give a talk about total tree care at the River Falls Public Library Community Meeting Room, beginning at 7 p.m.

Johnson will explain how to prevent tree failure with proper planting, pruning (when and how), watering, mulching and follow-up tree care. He is a professor of forestry at the University of Minnesota.

The River Falls Public Library and the St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners Association are sponsoring Johnson's talk, which is free and open to the public. For more information, call Margaret Smith at 426-5755.
