Volunteer opportunities available in Pierce/St. Croix

Community Action of St. Croix and Pierce Positive of Pierce County have joined together to partner with the Community Volunteer Service of the St. Croix Valley area to sponsor a volunteer referral service for residents of Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties.

This service will help provide local programs and agencies with community volunteers. The goal is to establish a volunteer clearinghouse service, utilizing a 1-800 connection to facilitate the process for those seeking a service opportunity in western Wisconsin. Current opportunities include:

-Respite Staff Support Assistant, for children with disabilities. Volunteers assist with staff in food preparation, housekeeping, supervision and entertainment under the supervision of respite staff. Orientation and training is provided. Volunteers are needed on Saturdays and Sundays especially.

-Volunteer Office Assistant, for office work, receptionist and clerical duties for an organization that supports women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. Volunteers have flexible scheduling during the weekdays.

-Gift Shop Sales Volunteer, assist with gift shop sales at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Scheduling varies days and evenings.

-Program Leader, assist as a program leader for 6-8th graders. Volunteers are needed to assist with classes, dances and outings after school, evening and weekends. Activities include youth center, trips to recreational and entertainment attractions. Volunteers must complete a screening and orientation session. Short term and flexible volunteering is available.

-Thursday Folder Volunteer, sort and fold folders of school information that accompany school children home. Volunteers meet at an elementary school in Hudson on Thursdays between noon and 3:30 p.m.
