Fun Fest 2016 will be filled with sports activities
The 2016 New Richmond Fun Fest will again feature sports of all varieties for athletes and spectators to enjoy.
Here is a rundown on this year’s sports events.
Willow River Run
The annual Willow River Run will again be conducted on Saturday morning, starting and finishing at Mary Park.
Registration will be held from 6-7:20 a.m. at Mary Park, with the race starting at 7:35 a.m. The event will feature at 10K run and a 5K walk/run. The annual Kids Run for children 12 years old and younger will start at 8:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the continued development of pathways around New Richmond.

The softball tournaments at Hatfield Park are one of the fixtures of Fun Fest. They will be happening again this year. Forty-eight teams in three divisions will be playing in this year’s tournament. Action begins at Hatfield Park on Friday and will carry through late Sunday afternoon. Teams will play in Upper, Middle and Recreational divisions in the tournament.
NR Tennis Open
The 16th annual New Richmond Tennis Open will begin on Friday and play in the tournament will continue throughout the weekend. The tournament will be played at the New Richmond High School and New Richmond Middle School tennis courts.
The tournament will include a number of age brackets through singles and doubles competition.
American Legion and city league baseball will both be featured at New Richmond’s Citizens Field as part of the Fun Fest activities.
The New Richmond American Legion baseball teams will play at double-header at Citizens Field on Thursday. The New Richmond Junior Legion team will host Luck-Frederic at 5 p.m. That will be followed by a game between the New Richmond and Prescott Senior Legion teams at 7:30 p.m.
The New Richmond Millers city league baseball team will play its annual Fun Fest game against Osceola on Friday. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Citizens Field.
