Swimming and diving: Raptors finish eighth at True Team state
The East Ridge girls' swimming and diving team finished near the middle of the pack in the Class 2A state True Team meet on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The Raptors placed eighth out of 12 teams with 1,083 team points.
Freshman Chloe Wangensteen led the way for the Raptors as an individual as she placed 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 9.72 seconds. Other top-20 finishes included a 16th-place mark for Kyra Bachman in the 100 freestyle (56:01), a 18th-place finish for Callie Kunz in the 500 freestyle (5:27.16) and a 20th place finish in the 500 freestyle for Grace Rauker (5:29.30).
The 200-yard freestyle team of Bachman, Robbie Witikko, Kunz and Rauker also finished 17th with a time of 1:45.27.
Woodbury ties vs. White Bear Lake
The Woodbury girls' swimming and diving team pulled off an improbable tie in its Suburban East Conference dual meet with White Bear Lake last Tuesday, Oct. 17.
The Royals and White Bear Lake each finished with scores of 93 after all of the varsity events were completed.
Gabriella Vitela led the Royals with two first-place finishes individually. She took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2-minutes, 20.75 seconds and also won the 500 freestyle in 5:31.66.
Other first-place finishes came from Quincie Klein in the 200 freestyle (2:07.69), Caitlyn Greenwalt in diving (173.85) and Lindsay Lutton in the 100 backstroke (1:07.89).
Park vs. Mounds View
The Park girls' swimming and diving team dropped a Suburban East Conference matchup with Mounds View on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Mounds View won the dual meet 104-73. Among the Park wins were diver Kennedy Blaschko who finished first with a score of 156.45.
