Chris Falteisek will provide a presentation 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, on his recent journey to Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Poland at Christ Episcopal Church, 7305 Afton Road in Woodbury. Falteisek, Christ Church's Minister of Worship/Music Director, recently spent five weeks on a genealogy pilgrimage to experience the life and customs of his ancestral countries.

For the second year in a row, Always Lucy Strong is hosting its primary fundraiser in musical fashion. This year's A Little Summer Jam will welcome Minnesota-based band Porcupine and Kat Perkins of NBC's "The Voice" fame. A Little Summer Jam returns 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Rotary Pavilion in Hastings.
Nékter Juice Bar will celebrate the grand opening of its Woodbury location — the chain's first restaurant in Minnesota — Saturday, July 28, with free 16-ounce fresh juices and Superfood Smoothies from 8 a.m. to noon. A corrections officer was killed by a homicide offender Wednesday at Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater.
ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Department of Health is warning consumers to not eat Spring Pasta Salad from Hy-Vee if it was purchased before July 17. Six of seven cases in a Salmonella Sandiego outbreak have been linked to people who have eaten Spring Pasta Salad from four different Hy-Vee stores, a news release said. On July 16, the product was removed from all stores voluntarily while health officials have been investigating.
Investigators have taken into custody a Hastings man who police allege was driving the commercial vehicle that lost a boulder that killed a mother and daughter Monday, July 9 in Rosemount. Police identified Wednesday the truck involved in the fatal incident belonged to Czeck Services. Police determined the owner of the business, Joseph P. Czeck, 33, was the driver of the vehicle and arrested him in Inver Grove Heights, according to a Rosemount Police Department news release July 12.
