Candidate for 29th Assembly takes time to fulfill Marine Reserve obligation

Isaac Weix, R-Menomonie, candidate for 29th assembly district will be taking off two weeks of critical campaign time to conduct annual training with the Marine Corps Reserve.

Photo of Isaac Weix Weix, a 13-year veteran of the Marine Corps, with overseas tours in Cuba, Europe, Asia, Africa, and most recently a combat tour in Iraq, serves as a Company Gunnery Sergeant for "G" Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment.

"This will be our first time conducting annual training since coming back from Iraq. The company has new leadership and many new Marines. It is critical that as many combat vets as possible are there to pass on to the young Marines the valuable lessons learned while in Iraq," Weix explained.

"G" company will conduct training in various areas including Convoy Operations, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Identification, Small Arms Training, Communications, and Navigation on the Battlefield.

"It is our intent," said Weix "to not only teach the Marines how to survive combat, but to be successful and take the fight on the battlefield."

Weix is running a campaign that he hopes will bring integrity and ethics to Madison. "As a Marine, my actions and the actions of my men could have global consequences, so integrity and ethical behavior are not just buzz words for a campaign, they have been my life for 13 years," Weix said.

The 29th Assembly District includes parts of Dunn County, Including the City of Menomonie. It also includes Spring Valley and Elmwood in Pierce County, and most of rural St. Croix County, including New Richmond.
