After Christy Rekstad had her son, she knew her heart was at home. But it was difficult to get used to the idea of letting go of her business, Simply Massage. She started the business in 2008 and it has steadily grown since.

"It was an emotional decision. It was my second home for quite a few years," said Rekstad.

Then Jenny Cisneros came along. Recently laid-off, Cisneros felt like it was time to satisfy her longtime dream to own a business. She found Simply Massage on a website and thought it might be the right opportunity.

Simply Massage and Spa offers massages, facials, waxing and other spa services. Located on the northwest corner of Highway 3 and 145th Street, the business employs 13.

"I've been hoping and dreaming someday to own my own business and it looked like a beautiful business," said Cisneros.

The two women met and hit it off. Rekstad knew she needed to find a buyer she felt comfortable with and Cisneros was the right fit. On March 1, Cisneros took ownership of the business.

"I feel like the clients and staff will be taken care of. Jenny will breathe new energy into the business," said Rekstad.

Their goal through the process was to make the transition invisible to clients. An email was sent to inform clients of the change but services were not interrupted. Cisneros said so far clients have been warm and receptive to her.

"I'm really excited to be here," said Cisneros.

Going forward, Cisneros hopes to continue the success Rekstad built and to grow the business. Specifically, Cisneros would like to add staff and highlight some of the specialties the spa offers.

Simply Massage and Spa is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
