Mike Christenson had family in Roberts, knew Matt Delander, the owner of L&M’s Bar and Grill, worked for nine years running the restaurant portion of Buffalo Wild Wings in Hudson and always had a goal of being his own boss.

Those factors and more led Christenson to Sept. 22, when he became the new owner of Bobtown Brewhouse and Grill (the former L&M’s).

“I’ve always enjoyed working in this environment,” the River Falls native said, who promised to be a hands-on owner. “...It feels like you are throwing a party for your friends.”

Christenson said changes he has in store include tweaks to the menu, interior touch-ups (new touchtunes, dartboard, pool table) and starting his own brewery. He will also include 10 tap lines at the bar, a mix of traditional, domestic or local.

Entertainment acts are still part of his plans, as a comedian is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7 and a band is booked for Saturday, Nov. 28. He also highlighted a beanbag fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 17 for the St. Croix Central Wrestling Club.

As for St. Patrick’s Day, which previously included a parade and music acts, Christenson said those events will still continue.

Another thing that won’t change about the bar is the Green Bay Packers.

“I love the Packers and all other Wisconsin sports,” Christenson said.
