COTTAGE GROVE - TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, located in the former Home Depot building, will open just in time for residents to get fall fashion and decor.

Both stores will open Sunday, Oct. 28.

The grand opening will be at 8 a.m., directly following a 7:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In the meantime, a flurry of hiring activity has been underway to staff the stores.

The stores are opening in the former Home Depot, a decade after the hardware store closed, three years after developer EBL&S purchased the site in November 2015.

Planet Fitness has also been announced for the center, and work is underway to get that opened. A spokeswoman for the company said she expects it to be open this winter.

There are two other spaces for tenants to fill that have not yet been announced.
