Dog owners looking for a place to board their furry friends may want to check out Animal Luv Inn, located in Somerset.

The 80-by-40 square foot dog boarding facility, which opened in January, is all about keeping animals entertained, active and loved while their owners are away at work or on vacation.

Owners Monea Johnson and Ryan Eskierka, of Somerset, promise every pet that visits the facility will receive plenty of love.

"We will have a great time; play time, meal time, treat time, cuddle time and walk time," said Johnson.

When an animal checks-in at the facility their owner fills out a biography describing the dog's personality, likes and dislikes, favorite activities and any special needs.

Johnson said it's important that the dogs feel comfortable at the inn, whether that means lying on the couch, playing with toys or walking outside in the woods.

In addition to spacious play areas and separate "inns" for overnight guests, the facility features a "cozy corner" full of couches, recliners and dog beds. Soon there will be a grooming area at the facility. She also hopes to add a large fenced-in outdoor play area within the year.

"We really want to make it (the facility) feel like home," Johnson said. "We want to become each dog's friend."

Between play time, cuddle time and multiple walks with the dogs each day, Johnson says she really gets to know the dogs she boards.

Johnson, a self-proclaimed dog-lover, says it's always been a dream of hers to own a boarding facility where she can play with dogs all day.

Johnson and Eskierka's 5-year-old daughter, Isabella, has also enjoyed helping her parents with the new boarding business.

"Isabella helps us with the animals all the time. It's so wonderful," Johnson said. "It's so nice to be able to bring her to work. She helps us give love to each dog."

Johnson says dog owners won't have to break the bank to board their pets.

"Our prices are pretty low," she said. "I have no extra add-ons."

One to four hours costs $12, four to eight hours costs $20 and overnight stays cost a total of $25.

Johnson said owners of dogs that stay five days or more receive 10 percent off their bill. There are also discounts for bringing more than one dog to the facility.

Since opening in January, Johnson said she has boarded a total of 15 dogs, and business continues to grow.

Though the facility has enough overnight "inns" for 13 dogs, Johnson says she only wants to board about six dogs at one time.

"I want to make sure I can give each dog enough quality time," she said.

Johnson said she's really enjoying her new business.

"I've really enjoyed building relationships with the dogs," she said. "They all have such unique characteristics. I love to get to know them. I even miss them when they're gone."

Johnson promises to take care of customers pets as if they were her own.

"I will love them and give them quality attention," she said.

Johnson encourages dog owners interested in checking out Animal Luv Inn to attend the grand opening, March 5-11, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

"We will have refreshments and snacks for you and your dog pal," Johnson said.

Animal Luv Inn is located at 1584 32nd St., Somerset (next to Papa B's Lounge and St. Croix National Golf Course).
