The Excellence in Agriculture award spotlights young Farm Bureau members who are agricultural enthusiasts but have not earned a majority of their income from an owned production agricultural enterprise in the past three years.

Ted and Katie Brenny of Mazeppa won this year's Minnesota achievement award.

Competitors are evaluated on their understanding of agricultural issues, leadership experiences, achievement and their ability to communicate their agricultural story.

Ted and Katie are fifth-generation farmers raising beef cattle. Ted works for the farm credit systems, and Katie works for an agriculture business company in the digital technology space.

In addition to the recognition plaque, they received a $500 prize and the opportunity to compete at a national level.
