FARMINGTON - A new business in Farmington aims to connect those who seek greater nutrition and fitness.

Hale Nutrition opened its doors Feb. 8 at its Elm Street location. Proprietor Jessica Grisim, 40, is excited to educate the community on how to become healthier through nutrition and fitness.

"Hale means fit and healthy and I am very much into fitness and clean, healthy eating," she said. "I wanted to expand where I was going and wasn't satisfied with the results that I was getting on my own."

Grisim began using these nutritional products two years ago and she has never felt better. She wanted to lose a little weight but desired to gain greater lean muscle mass and overall energy.

"I couldn't be more excited to teach everybody else about it and help them," Grisim said. "It is not just geared for those who are looking to lose weight, it is geared for everybody who wants to get the nutrition, gain energy, gain muscle and sometimes even gain weight which sounds bizarre but there are a lot of those people."

Working at a nutritional club and gym in Faribault, Grisim said she wanted to spread the nutrition and that is what led her to Farmington.

The store offers 75 flavors of nutritional shakes and pre- and post-workout energy drinks. The shakes are perfect for pregnant women and anyone in search of better health. The shakes are packed with 18 to 20 grams of protein, range from 150 to 250 calories, and are made with mango aloe and all-natural, unsweetened green tea.

Hale Nutrition will soon offer community fitness classes, a cardio drumming class and Grisim plans to lead a walking group.

"What I am most excited about is helping the community, and I am firmly a believer in making the world a happier health place and I love to see people's expression when try the products," Grisim said.

Hale Nutrition's hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
