Editor's note: An earlier version of this story had the store opening a day later. Dunkin' is now open.
Hastings has a new place for donuts and coffee.
Dunkin', located off of Vermillion, opened Thursday, May 23 at 5 a.m.
The restaurant serves donuts and baked goods made daily, as well as hot, cold and frozen drinks. For those on the go, the business has a drive-thru and a mobile ordering app.
The restaurant is owned by Elias Saman, who was chosen as Dunkin's franchisee for the southeast metro.
The Hastings location was originally set to be opened in 2017. Due to a bad winter, the project got pushed back. Hastings is Saman's third in the area. He opened a Dunkin' Baskin Robbins location in Eagan earlier this year and has another location in West St. Paul.
While some Dunkin' locations also include Baskin Robbins, the Hastings location will not have the ice cream franchise as part of the business. This was a conscious decision, out of respect for the Dairy Queen next door, Saman said.
Saman plans to develop more Dunkin' and Baskin Robbins locations in the future.
"It really is a nice, small city," Saman said of choosing Hastings for a location. "I like the town, and I like the people."
The restaurant is at 1207 Vermillion St., and is open seven days a week form 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
