Thousands of people packed Hoffman Park Saturday morning to participate in and watch the Tri-Angels 5K Fun Run in memory of Amara, Sophie and Cecilia Schaffhausen, and to kickoff fundraising efforts to have a new playground built in their memory.
Samantha Jensen and Hannah Bellrichard, 2013 River Falls High graduates, organized and hosted Saturday's event. They estimated that more than 1,400 people registered to participate in the 5K. Police estimated that more than 3,000 people packed the park including participants and spectators.
Those interested in giving to the cause can send donations to Tri-Angels Playground at P.O. Box 141, River Falls, WI 54022.
