On Friday evening, roughly 300 community members gathered in Levee Park to celebrate the 25th annual Relay For Life.

The celebration included guest speakers, musical entertainment, a silent auction, food, drinks and a kids carnival. Party-goers could relax and enjoy the music or walk laps next to the river to help support those who have been affected by cancer.

Through the event and other fundraisers, Relay For Life was able to surpass its goal and raise just over $39,000 for the American Cancer Society, according to the event’s coordinator Elizabeth Rohrer.

Most of the funds raised come through fundraising teams that register for the event. This year’s Relay For Life had 16 teams participating and organizing their own fundraisers. Money is raised up until the last minute of the event. Roughly $4,000 was collected on Friday night.
