On Aug. 16, Hastings police officers will be on the roof of Dunkin’ in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Minnesota.

The Hastings Dunkin’ is one of 14 locations in the state participating in the Cop on a Rooftop fundraiser. Customers who stop in and make a donation will receive a coupon for a free donut.

In addition to the donations given by customers, Dunkin’ will donate $1,000 to the run.

The Hastings Police Department has supported Special Olympics Minnesota through working with the Hastings Special Olympics team, the Hastings Sharks, and participating in the Torch Run.

"This is just another way we can support the cause," Police Chief Bryan Schafer said. "We are looking forward to being out there on Friday."

This is the third year that Dunkin’ has held a fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Last year they raised almost $10,500 — a number they hope to top this year.

Donations will be accepted from 6-11 a.m. The Hastings Dunkin’ is located at 1207 Vermillion St.
