SPRING VALLEY, Wis. -- Dam Days is all about community and the dam that makes Spring Valley possible. The celebration is Sept. 20-22.

“It's a time for family to get together,” Greg Dieckman, the person responsible for designing the Dam Days schedule poster, said. “To come home and visit, get together and just kind of bring a sense of community.”

According to Dieckman, most of this year’s activities are local traditions. There will be food stands, beer gardens, live music, bingo, bicycle races and fire truck rides among other activities.

The grand parade starts at 2 p.m. Sunday on North McKay Avenue traveling south. The celebration will end with the coronation of Miss Spring Valley -- right on the parade reviewing stand in front of the crowd.

“I’m just hoping we have good weather and that we get a good crowd,” Dieckman said.

On Saturday, a fundraiser for the Handy Andy Park project will run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to dunk local “celebrities” such as their dentist and high school principal. The dunk tank will be set up next to the Handy Andy Park Project information booth outside of the municipal building. A schedule of the people in the dunk tank will be available the day of the event. Proceeds will go toward new playground equipment and a splash pad at Handy Andy Park.
