Area Shriners set for big events
The Shriners of the St Croix Valley Shrine Club are again planning a series of events designed to raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children in the Twin Cities.
The nobles have three events in the works.
On Saturday, Oct. 6 the Shriners will hold their annual Potentates banquet at Junior's in River Falls. The event starts with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and a catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is open to all Shriners and their families and friends. The banquet will feature an address by Payton Bahr, the Grand Marshal of the Little East West Shrine Game plus the appearance of many statewide leaders of the Zor Shrine in Madison.
The UW-River Falls Falcon football team have been invited to attend a pre-game dinner held at the American Legion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. They will be treated to a good home-cooked meal of mashed potatoes and meatloaf. followed by desserts from the Ladies Auxiliary.
On Saturday, Oct. 13 the Little East West Shrine Game will kick off with an Oasis at 7:30 a.m. at the Legion club. The gala parade led by the grand marshal will form up at 9:30 a.m. and start at 10:30 a.m. The parade is held in conjunction with the UWi-River Falls Homecoming. The game, which pits the Falcons against the UW-Stout Blue Devils, will be held at 1 p.m. Bahr and the visiting Divan leaders will be introduced before the game.
The Nobles of the Shrine Club are busy raising funds for the event which will be dedicated to the Shriners Hospital for Children. The hospital provides care for children regards of their families ability to pay. The Twin Cities hospital receives funding from Shriners to care for children with orthopedic needs throughout the Midwest.
