A full gymnasium of friends and family watched as 370 Hastings High School seniors walked the stage and accepted their diplomas during the June 7 commencement ceremony.
There were four students who spoke to their classmates: Kathy Blissenbach, Deanna Small, Allison Amy and Trevor Zeyen.
Amy was the first to speak, welcoming her fellow graduates.
Blissenbach took a unique approach to her speech, making comparisons between the trials of high school to superheroes such as Batman to Iron Man.
"Everyone has their own greatest strengths," Blissenbach said, "whether it be on the field, in the classroom or on stage.
"We all had moments where we faltered and we felt like throwing in the towel. All odds seem against us like Iron Man up against an entire alien army. We couldn't do it alone," Blissenbach added, thanking the teachers that have been by the students' side every step of the way.
Later that night, grads celebrated at an all-night party. From 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. seniors ate food, played games and more. The night ended with a hypnotist show.
