Rosemount Area Arts Council has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. RAAC applied for the grant in September.
The Arts Council will use the grant to purchase upgraded sound equipment to be used with its productions at the Steeple Center.
"We are very excited about receiving this award. We have wanted to upgrade our sound equipment for several years", said Jeanne Schwartz, who has been elected the Council's chairperson for 2019 and also is the grant writer for the group. "We can present the finest plays and other events, but if audiences have trouble hearing what is being said on stage, they will not be happy with the event and may not come back for another. We are grateful for this grant and the opportunity it provides."
This grant program is made possible by an appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature with money from the state's general fund.
The goal of the Arts Council is to bring a wide variety of arts events to the Rosemount area. Visit www.rosemountarts.com for other events and membership information.
