The United Way of Hastings Board of Directors announced its 2019 annual grant awards March 7. UWH approved $65,000 of funding to be awarded to eight area organizations: 360 Communities, Boy Scouts, DARTS, Friends of the Mississippi River, Hastings Community Education, Hastings Schools, Legal Assistance of Dakota County and ProAct.

Some of the initiatives being funded include 360 Communities' Lewis House, Hastings Community Education's disability program and older adult home services from DARTS.

Each organization must meet a set of guidelines in order to receive this funding. UWH goes through a vetting process of organizations to make sure that these funds go to where the community needs them most.

UWH will host an event March 27 to recognize business leaders from the 2019 annual campaign.

"UWH continues to be at the table identifying the needs in the community and likewise, can bring groups together to make the most impact in the community," UWH Executive Director Mari Mellick said. "It's not easy to quantify that for people, but the recognition event will help continue that relationship building that UWH has been known for."
