WOODBURY - Greg Kraft, sculptor and member of Artists of Woodbury, will be a featured artist in the summer exhibit at the Orange Dragon Gallery in Prescott.

Kraft's work was selected by a committee of artists. He will show several large sculpture pieces including an interactive one, a series of concrete heads and new stone carvings. He will also present some native-inspired talking sticks and wing fan sculptures. Of special interest is his new limestone carvings - a buffalo and leaf sculpture.

"I started working with cement 20 years ago; my first foray was into stepping stones," Kraft said. "I have studied on my own and with experts and through it all I have learned a lot of different techniques and materials. Working on planters and having surplus cement got me thinking about doing something with my remaining cement and viola, the cement heads were born."

The summer exhibit opened Wednesday, June 27 and runs through Aug. 26. All work is for sale at the Orange Dragon Gallery.

Kraft has had his sculpture shown throughout Minnesota and is excited to show his new work. There will be an opening reception by invitation.

"I studied the native peoples of the U.S. and was influenced by the art and craft of them" Kraft said.

"We are so excited to have Greg as one of our featured artists! We are especially excited to show his new buffalo and leaf carvings," said gallery manager and artist, Marie Frederick.

Kraft's work at the Orange Dragon Gallery will be shown both indoors and in the gallery garden behind the store.

The gallery, located at 122 Orange St., Prescott, is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
