A Prescott teenager was confirmed by authorities to be safe after an alert went out seeking to find her.

Nineteen-year-old Rachel Elizabeth Hutcheson’s whereabouts had been unknown since late October when she didn’t show up for work at Target in Cottage Grove, Prescott Police Office Chief Doug Ducklow said Monday.

But Hutcheson contacted Prescott police after seeing her own missing person alert circulated Monday, Ducklow said. He said she told police where she was - in Minnesota - where the Washington County Sheriff’s Office checked her welfare.

“She was not in any danger and was advised to contact her family,” Ducklow said in a news release.

He said the case is now closed.
