With only a few weeks to go before the fourth annual Girls in SCIENCE event at UW-River Falls, it is time to make your plans and get registered. This event has received rave reviews from parents and youth.
On Saturday, April 13, 2019, youth will meet and work with scientists, researchers, faculty and university students from Physics, Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Health & Human Performance, Biology & Tissue Engineering, Chemistry & Biotechnology, Plant & Earth Science, and Psychology & Neuroscience.
All genders are welcome. Please register via River Falls Community Education at rflearns.org. Go to "Register Now" and then choose the morning session for youth in grades 3-6 or the afternoon session for youth in grades 6-9. (Sixth graders can choose which session works best for them.) The morning session will run 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The afternoon session will happen 1-5:15 p.m. Each group of students will cycle through four different hands-on activities.
Full and partial scholarships are still available. To register with a scholarship or to request that registered youth be grouped together, please email email@example.com or call 715-425-4230. The event cost is $22, and an $11 event T-shirt can also be ordered at the time of registration. Please indicate the T-shirt size when registering.
Please register by March 30. Registration may close earlier if the sessions fill.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a water bottle and to wear comfortable shoes. A snack will be provided. Check in and drop off will be at Hagestad Hall on the UW-River Falls campus, 262 E. Cascade Ave. Parking is free on Saturdays in the parking lot across from Hagestad.
Each participant will receive a take-home bag of items donated by local companies and institutions. Companies and organizations that would like to support the Girls in SCIENCE event, donate items for the take-home bags, and be recognized in the thank you list, please contact AAUW President Lorraine Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
