Last weekend, the Hastings Raiders Marching Band competed in two competitions, taking home first out of six bands and third out of eight bands.

The Raiders took first place at their show in Eden Prairie. They also snagged awards for “Outstanding Hornline” and “Outstanding Percussion.” While taking third at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, the band also took home an award for “Outstanding Colorguard.” Both shows were held Sept. 7.

This weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 14, the marching band will compete at Rosemount High School at 5 p.m. Band director Emily Chandler suggests that if you want to support the band and see a competition this is the one. The competition at Rosemount is the closest one to home.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, the marching band will be holding a clinic for interested students in grades 7-12. The clinic will go from 5:45-6:45 p.m. at Todd Field. At 7 p.m., the Raiders will perform their season show, “The Web We Weave.” The performance is open to the public and free to enter. To sign up your child for the clinic, contact Chandler at
