Crossings at Carnegie and Zumbrota's Covered Bridge Endowment Fund are sponsoring a plein air painting event celebrating the 140th birthday of the covered bridge. People have until June 13 to complete an outdoor painting and bring it to Crossings.

Pine Island

A Pine Island Fire Department community event and fundraiser starts with a Texas Hold'em tournament at 2 p.m.; a bean bag tournament at 3 p.m.; and a classic car show from 5 p.m. to sundown at the fire hall. The main event is the annual Firemen's Dance with the Polka Dots at 6 p.m., followed by the band In The Fields at 8:30 p.m. Food will be served.

Goodhue Area Historical Society will hold an open house to launch the fourth season at the local museum. Murray Burfeind will play musical selections on a pump organ originally in St. Columbkill's Church. Demonstrators will include Nancy Ellison on the spinning wheel and Glen Mehrkens on the hand corn sheller. New this year at the museum are 64 model farm machines.
