Textile treasures on loan from local families will be featured Aug. 13 through Sept. 18 at the Lake Pepin Art and Design Center in Pepin.
The art center is looking for heirloom textiles to showcase in the exhibit, including antique and contemporary handmade items.
"We are seeking a variety of materials, including quilts, table linens, knitted or crocheted items, woven or hooked rugs, clothing and other textile-based handwork to display during the exhibition," according to a press release. "We are interested in objects created for special occasions, and for everyday use -- items with an interesting history or local connection are especially welcome."
Special events are planned in connection with the exhibit and with Laura Ingalls Wilder Days Sept. 10-12. A reception with live music will be Sept. 10 at the center, located at Second and Main streets. Also, textile conservator Maureen Hark, formerly of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, will present "Caring for Your Treasured Textiles" on Sept. 12.
Works will be safely exhibited and insured during display in the gallery, officials said.
