Get your swing thing going when Jivin' Ivan and the Kings of Swing Lindy Hop onto the Zumbrota State Theatre stage at 8 p.m. Saturday May 12.

Competition-level swing dance couple Devin and Kendra from Northfield, Minn., also will perform and the band is joined by special guest keyboardist Doug Madow.

Ivan is Ivan Whillock, who played brass instruments in the Blue Notes back in the day when today's oldies were new. Now he's switched to guitar and six years ago formed another band, the Kings of Swing, to play music that gets toes tapping and hands clapping.

Other members of the band, based in Faribault, Minn., include Mike Hildebrandt, a multi-instrumentalist and member of the Minnesota Rock/Country Music Hall of Fame, whose work as a physician funds his musical life.

Vocalist Dallas Musselman is equally confident belting out a show tune, crooning a classic ballad or getting down to business with a jazz number, while Ivan's son and drummer Mark Whillock says it's a privilege to play music with his dad. Bass player Ben Brian is the newest member of the band.

Special guest Doug Madow, a virtuoso on the keyboard, will join the Kings for the concert. Devin and Kendra will dance to various numbers and show off some fancy steps.

The Kings play with an irresistible energy that will have audiences jitterbugging, jiving, and jumping - or at least dancing in their seats.

Tickets are $14 in advance, $16 day of show. To reserve tickets, call 507-732-7616 or stop in to Crossings at 320 East Ave., Zumbrota. For more information, visit www.crossingsatcarnegie.com.
