The Hastings Family Aquatic Center is getting ready to open its doors for the season. The city-owned swim facility will open to the public at noon on Saturday, June 7.

In the off season, the aquatic center has undergone some upgrades, including a new roof and a new water heater. The concessions stand has some expanded offerings as well, such as breakfast items and coffee.

This year, the aquatic center is offering more swimming lessons and a water fitness class. Lessons follow the American Red Cross Swim Lesson program. Water fitness classes feature low to high intensity fitness sessions, and no swim ability is required.

There are more opportunities for lap swimming as well, said Theresa Faustini, the aquatic center manager.

The aquatic center is available for events such as birthday parties, and private (one-on-one) swimming lessons are also available.

An all-day pass is $7, or $5 after 5 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the cost is $5. Season passes are also available. The cost of a season pass depends on the number of people in the family. Punch cards are an alternative to daily rates and the season pass, offering patrons to buy a limited number of admissions. The price of punch cards depends on how many punches are purchased. Season passes and punch cards provide access to all the aquatic center features.

The aquatic center is open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or until 7 p.m. if there are no swimming lessons. It is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays with a family swim from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
