Hudson resident Janan Terpstra, 61, has just published her first book, "A Future and a Hope,

Encouragement for Single Women." She is celebrating with a book launch party, which is open

to the public, from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Mallards Restaurant in Bayport, Minn. There will be fun door prizes, complimentary snacks and merchandise for sale.

Terpstra was single until she turned 46. She spent 15 years co-leading a singles group at a large church in California, followed by four years as a missionary at a bicultural church in

Chicago. Each time she was a bridesmaid, she wondered if God's best plan for her did not include a husband and children. Her faith journey taught her invaluable lessons about God not just being "Father" and "Friend," but "Husband.

"A Future and a Hope" is part Bible study, part testimony. It can be used in a small group or just enjoyed alone with a pen, journal and a cup of coffee.

However, "A Future and a Hope" is being read by many married women as well. It provides direction for anyone who has ever encountered the dilemma of unanswered prayer. To order
